We Stand With You When You Make a Claim

Filing a claim can feel overwhelming, especially during a medical emergency or after losing a loved one. We help you understand the process, prepare the right documents and follow up with the insurer.

Our Role

How WealthBay Helps With Claims

An insurance policy is a promise, and the claim is when that promise is tested. Most claim delays come from late intimation, missing documents or misunderstanding policy terms. Our job is to help you avoid these problems.

Please note that the insurer, or its Third Party Administrator (TPA), assesses and decides every claim according to the policy terms. WealthBay does not decide claims and cannot promise any outcome. What we can do is make sure your claim is filed correctly, completely and on time, and that you are kept informed at every stage.

The Process

The Claim Journey, Step by Step

1

Intimate

Inform the insurer as soon as possible, within the timelines in your policy. Call us and we will help you do this.

2

Document

Collect the documents the insurer needs. We share a checklist specific to your claim type.

3

Submit & Follow Up

Submit the claim and respond quickly to any queries. We follow up with the insurer or TPA on your behalf.

4

Escalate if Needed

If you disagree with the decision, we explain the grievance route and help you prepare your complaint.

Claim Types

What to Expect for Each Type of Claim

Health Insurance: Cashless vs Reimbursement

In a cashless claim at a network hospital, the hospital's insurance desk sends a pre-authorisation request to the insurer or TPA, and approved costs are settled directly. In a reimbursement claim, you pay the hospital first and then submit bills and records to the insurer. Planned admissions should be intimated in advance and emergencies as soon as possible.

  • Health card / policy number and ID proof
  • Pre-authorisation form (cashless)
  • Discharge summary and final bill
  • Prescriptions, investigation reports and pharmacy bills
  • Bank details / cancelled cheque (reimbursement)

Life Insurance: Death Claims

The nominee informs the insurer and submits the claim form with supporting documents. The insurer may investigate claims in the early years of a policy. We help the family understand what is needed and stay in touch with the insurer until the claim is decided.

  • Claim form and original policy document (or copy)
  • Death certificate issued by the local authority
  • Nominee's ID, address proof and bank details
  • Medical records or hospital certificate, if applicable
  • FIR and post-mortem report for accidental death

Motor Insurance

Inform the insurer before moving the vehicle for repairs, unless it is unsafe to leave it where it is. The insurer appoints a surveyor to assess the damage. Cashless repairs are available at network garages. Theft and third-party injury claims usually need an FIR.

  • Policy copy, RC and driving licence
  • Photographs of the damage
  • FIR for theft, major accident or third-party injury
  • Repair estimate and final invoice

Property & Other General Insurance

For fire, burglary, marine and similar claims, intimate the insurer quickly, take reasonable steps to limit further loss and keep damaged items for the surveyor's inspection. Keep stock records, invoices and photographs ready.

  • Claim form and policy copy
  • Photographs and description of the loss
  • FIR or fire brigade report, where applicable
  • Invoices, stock registers and repair estimates
If You Disagree

Grievance Escalation Path

If you are unhappy with how your claim was handled, or you disagree with a rejection or partial settlement, there is a formal process to raise your concern. We help you understand each step and prepare your complaint.

Timelines and eligibility for each forum are set by the insurer's policy and by IRDAI regulations. Escalation does not guarantee a different decision, but it makes sure your case is reviewed.

Step 1: Write to the insurer's Grievance Redressal Officer (GRO) with your claim details and documents
Step 2: If unresolved, register the complaint on IRDAI's Bima Bharosa grievance portal
Step 3: If you are still not satisfied, approach the Insurance Ombudsman for your area, subject to eligibility
Keep copies of every letter, email and claim reference number

Tip: Read Your Policy Before You Need It

Most claim disputes come down to waiting periods, sub-limits, exclusions or non-disclosure at the proposal stage. Disclose your medical history fully when buying, and review your policy wording with us once a year.

FAQs

Common Questions About Insurance Claims

Can WealthBay make sure my claim is approved?
No. The insurer or its TPA decides every claim according to the policy terms and documents submitted. We help you file a complete, timely claim and follow up, but we cannot influence or promise the outcome.
Do you charge for claims assistance?
Claims support is part of the service we provide to clients who have bought policies through us. If your policy was bought elsewhere, talk to us and we will tell you how we can help.
How soon should I inform the insurer?
As soon as possible. Many policies set specific timelines, for example before a planned hospitalisation or within a short period after an emergency admission. Late intimation can delay a claim or complicate it, so call us or the insurer right away.
What is the difference between cashless and reimbursement claims?
In a cashless claim, the insurer settles approved costs directly with a network hospital. In a reimbursement claim, you pay the bills first and then claim the amount from the insurer by submitting the documents.
What can I do if my claim is rejected?
Ask the insurer for the reason in writing. If you disagree, write to the insurer's Grievance Redressal Officer. If that does not resolve it, you can use IRDAI's Bima Bharosa portal and then approach the Insurance Ombudsman, subject to eligibility.
